***Warhol was an notorious lover of cats, reportedly having kept as many as twenty five in the Lexington Aveune apartment he shared with his mother. This work, one of the artist's earliest publications, was intended to be given out as gifts to important people the artist was intending to impress, on the outset of his artistic career. Indeed the printer Seymour Berlin has suggested that Warhol spent no expense spared in its production and further claimed that only 150 copies were printed, not the 190 as listed in the colophon. .
